The Nakusp Bike Society (NABS) is the official mountain bike advocacy group for Nakusp and the surrounding areas. We actively work with public and private landowners for trail development and access for non-motorized use.
NABS has been the key organization responsible for the development of the Mount Abriel Recreation Site. This area will be home to over 50 kms of world class trails situated in a picturesque setting and includes a campground to function as your home base for extended stays.
NABS is also involved with local tourism initiatives to sustainably promote mountain bike tourism in the region.
building trails | managing events | growing community
For the community and beyond.
Through the efforts of dedicated trail builders and volunteer members, NABS has built an impressive network of trails. The primary focus area of development is the Mount Abriel Recreation Site. This area is adjacent to Arrow Lake and has amazing terrain and vistas. At final build out, there will be 50 km of mountain bike trails. It is already home to numerous world class trails and surrounds an excellent campground. Our organization has been successful in securing funding through many generous organizations to enable these efforts.
Enjoying life in the Kootenays
At Nakusp Bike Society, we are dedicated to ensuring the community enjoys the benefits of having access to amazing trails in such a beautiful region. The improvement to quality of life and personal health by enjoying physical activity in an outdoor environment are well known. The trails being built by NABS are intended to have something for all bike users, mild to wild. NABS hosts events to ensure the community is an active participant in the future of biking for this area.
“When the spirits are low, when the day appears dark, when work becomes monotonous, when hope hardly seems worth having, just mount a bicycle and go out for a spin down the road, without thought on anything but the ride you are taking.”
Arthur Conan Doyle
